The Forward Trust (formerly Rapt and Blue Sky) is the social enterprise that empowers people to break the cycle of crime or addiction to move forward with their lives. For more than 25 years they have been working with people to build positive and productive lives, whatever their past. Their core belief is that anyone is capable of transformational change, no matter how entrenched their addiction or prolific their crimes.

26 years ago, a group of people set up a project to offer support to people with drug and alcohol problems in prison. Today, the small project has grown into a huge organisation that works in 20 prisons and in the community offering substance misuse services and employment services to addicts and ex-offenders. They support some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in society to turn their lives around by helping them to break the cycle of crime, addiction, unemployment and destructive behaviours.

At the heart of their work are inspirational and dedicated role models and peer supporters who are key to the successful delivery of their services. More than one third of Forward’s own employers are ex-offenders or in recovery from addiction themselves. They offer living proof that change is possible and are a vital source of support and motivation to others.
