Evesham Library is currently hosting an art exhibition by learners studying Level 1 and Level 2 Art and Design courses.
The selection of work is a collection of artwork created by learners within a prison environment at HMP Long Lartin.
Art is one of the educational courses provided by the prison, and it allows learners to learn about art and its movements, as well as learning about different artistic techniques and styles. During the course learners are given the opportunity to express ideas and to also be able to express themselves creatively.
The exhibition artwork demonstrates different styles, techniques and designs, reflecting the varied and diverse nature of those who attend the art class. Many of the learners initially start the class devoid of confidence stating that they ‘can’t draw’ or generally lack confidence in their artistic skills, but once they start practising and start gaining confidence, they develop their own styles creating beautiful and interesting compositions inspired by their own experiences hopes and dreams.
