Milton Keynes College has an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Support Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic teaching support team, committed to enhancing the learning experience for our students.

The Learning Support department at Milton Keynes College is a critical team providing effective and timely support for our students.

Due to the staff’s talent and dedication to students, the support received helps learners to achieve and progress, making a real difference to their lives and future opportunities.

As part of the Maths and English team as a Teaching Support Assistant you will be working supporting students to achieve their goals in their studies. Some support may also take place in our ESOL department.

As a successful candidate you will have…

  • Hold an NVQ level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or be willing to work towards one
  • Have literacy and numeracy skills to a minimum of level 2 in maths and English
  • Have proven experience of working in a teaching and learning environment
  • Experience of establishing appropriate relationships with people with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities and being a positive role model
  • Have the flexibility to support lecturers across a range of subject and curriculum areas
  • Have excellent communication skills and be able to establish a rapport with young people
  • To be able to work independently and demonstrate initiative
  • To be able to contribute, participate and share in the responsibility for the development of the Department’s work
  • Have well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Have a strong awareness and understanding of equal opportunities and the ability to translate these into effective action
