Job Title: Resettlement Worker (Offender Services)
Location: Hmp Northumberland (Northumbria Contract Package Area)
Accountable to: Service Manager or Team Leader  
Salary: £20,503 - £21,528 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Fixed Term until 31st March 2019
Leave: 30 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays (currently 8 per year).  This is pro-rated for any employees working less than 37.5 hours per week
Event: Shelter Careers Event Northumbria (28th June, 10am - 2pm, Shelter Newcastle Office)

 

Shelter have an exciting opportunity for Resettlement Workers to join their team at HMP Northumberland. They are holding a Careers Event this June to give candidates a unique opportunity to come along, meet staff, ask questions and kick-start the application process.

 

About the Role

Resettlement Workers will be required to deliver a professional, impartial pragmatic and outcome focussed Resettlement Service to offenders within all relevant locations within the Northumbria CRC area.

This work will involve delivering housing, finance and debt interventions in order to aid an individual’s resettlement.

Resettlement Workers will be responsible for:

  • Completion of agreed housing, finance and debt interventions.
  • Coordination of ‘other pathway’ interventions by completing referrals to appropriate providers.
  • Ensuring case details are entered onto the agreed Case Management systems (such as OASys, CRC systems and Shelter recording tool) accurately and punctually.

 

Some locations are difficult to reach with the use of Public Transport. It is therefore preferable for candidates to have a full driver’s license and access to a vehicle with relevant insurance

The Team

The position will be working within the TR Through the Gate Team. Based in Northumbria Contract Package Area (CPA). The substantive location at Hmp Northumberland but with an expectation to work across multiple locations within CPA, as required to support cover and sickness.

The function of the team is to deliver housing, finance and debt interventions in custody and in the community.

This will include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Identify and help offenders to secure suitable accommodation.
  • Assess eligibility of statutory homelessness and assist offenders with making homelessness applications where required.
  • Advise on mortgage/rent arrears, as well as issues regarding landlord disputes.
  • Assist offenders to address any debt issues and help them to access benefits that they may be entitled to.
  • Coordinate referrals to appropriate agencies to deliver additional pathway.
