Job Title: Community Resettlement Worker

Salary: £20,503 - £21,528 per annum

Hours: 37.5 per week - The service operates between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, but actual working hours will be determined by the needs of the service.

Leave: 30 days’ holiday per annum plus bank holidays (currently 8 per year). This is pro-rated for any employees working less than 37.5 hours per week

Location: Preston, Lancaster, Accrington, Blackpool, Kendal and Barrow

 

About the Role

 

Community Resettlement Workers will be required to deliver a professional, impartial pragmatic and outcome focussed Resettlement Service to referred offenders within East Lancashire.  Delivering interventions in accommodation, and finance, benefit and debt. Working closely with Shelter Mentoring service and the prison resettlement team and CRC to ensure that all identified needs are met appropriately and effectively.

 

Resettlement Workers will be responsible for:

 

  • Completion of initial needs and risk assessments for each offender
  • Completion of agreed housing, finance and debt interventions.
  • Coordination of employment and ‘other pathway’ interventions by managing referrals to appropriate providers.
  • Ensuring case details are entered onto the agreed Case Management systems (such as OASys, CRC systems and Shelter recording tool) accurately and punctually.

 

Some CRC and HMP locations are difficult to reach with the use of Public Transport. It is therefore preferable for candidates to have a full driver’s license and access to a vehicle with relevant insurance.

About the Service

 

Shelter are working across the North of England to deliver the new Transforming Rehabilitation Service.  Specifically, in Cumbria and Lancashire CPA the service comprises of a resettlement element, based in the four prisons and a community integration element based in the CRC offices across the Cumbria and Lancashire CPA.

 

About the Team

 

Position will be working within the TR Community Integration Team, covering the East Lancashire area, but with an expectation to work across the CPA, as required to support cover and sickness.

 

The function of the team is to deliver an integrated resettlement service, including, but not limited to, the following:

 

  • Complete initial assessments for referred offenders recently released from custody or on community orders.
  • Deliver housing, finance and debt interventions via group and one to one sessions.
  • Coordinate referrals to appropriate agencies to deliver additional pathway interventions.
  • Complete pre-release planning, including review of agreed interventions, actioning any outstanding Areas of Concern and preparation for release.
